Welcome to Roots & Rounds!
You may be wondering why we have launched a website and leadership development program that looks at diversity, equity, and inclusion from an intergenerational lens when there is so much buzz about different generations. Afterall, there has always been tension between older and younger people. We know the struggle is real and it has been going on since the first family on earth.
What is different about today is that we have seven generational cohorts who have experienced significantly different world events and advances in technology and science all living, learning, working, and playing in our communities. For the first time in human history, we have seven generations alive, six actively volunteering, and five earning a paycheck. We think this fact is pretty awesome! What an amazing opportunity to bridge the wisdom and innovative ideas and perspectives of such a wide range of people!
In future blog posts we'll be exploring the pros and cons, differences and commonalities, and as much of the research and insight taking place globally as many people work to understand how to best lead and live balanced lives in this new era that Pulitzer Prize winning author Thomas L. Friedman calls the "Age of Accelerations."
